November 18th is the
birthday of Ded Moroz, a traditional Slavic character similar to Santa Claus.
On this special day, Russian children send congratulations to a special post
office built for the occasion or travel to Veliky Ustyug to attend celebrations
thrown in Ded Moroz’s honor. The beloved Ded Moroz, known in English as
Grandfather Frost or Father Frost, traditionally celebrates his birthday in
Veliky Ustyug. The town in northern Russia has been Ded Moroz’s home since 1998
and numerous relatives come to congratulate the beloved man on his special day.
Santa Claus from Finland, Chiskhan from Yakutia, Pakkayne from Karelia, and
Snegurochka from Kostroma all pay a visit on November 18th. Ded Moroz delivers
presents in person and children may visit him all year long He also goes on
tour and visit not only towns and cities of Russia. After his birthday
celebrations this year, Father Frost will also visit Germany, France, and

As for me I really don't know that there is official Ded Moroz in Russia. But I don't want to visit him. In my opinion it is waste of time and money. I want spend this time and money for traveling to London!!! It is my dream...
ОтветитьУдалитьImage of Ded Moroz causes warm feelings that i had in my childhood during winter holidays. It seems to me every Russian loves Ded Moroz for wonders that he gave us when we were children. A lot of children want to congratulate him and wish happy birthday. By the way Ded moroz gave people many presents and it`s very pleasently to thank him with a little present.
ОтветитьУдалитьFor many people Ded Moroz is actually the greatist hero, who makes our dreams in reallity. My opinion is the same. Dedushka Moroz is still my hero. When I was young, I often wrote a lot of latters to him. So... I want to visit him in my future and congratulate with him birthday

ОтветитьУдалитьToday I'm not sure that he is real and I think it's waste of time to send letters to him. I want Dedushka Moroz to visit me and then we will celebrate his birthday together!:)
I still remember how I asked Dedushka to gift me a toy Wolverine from X-Men for New Year, but I didn't get it...
ОтветитьУдалитьNow I don't worry about it, because people have to live without looking back. I've already forgiven it to him, and now he has become my hero, along with Wolverine, Spider-Man and Cristiano Ronaldo! I realy want to visit Veliky Ustyug and congratulate Dedushka with his birthday with other guys, I can't wait for it! Maybe we all together would create something speciall as a gift for him, he would be happy!)
I am ashamed that I just now found out about the existence of the birthday of Ded Moroz. If I knew about it earlier, I would have tried to persuade my parents to travel to Veliky Ustyug. Unfortunately, now I'm too old to visit Ded Moroz. Moreover, I was told a long time who puts my presents under the tree.;)
ОтветитьУдалитьIt's great to keep traditions, especially those connected with happiness, joy and light-hearted green years! But I suppose no matter how old you are it's necessary to believe in miracles because if you Do, you can touch the sky!
ОтветитьУдалитьIn my view Ded Moroz is one of the greatest fairytale’s heroes, who helps the parents to fulfill the children’s wishes. When I was younger I wrote a lot of letters to him and all my wishes came true. So I think it’s a good idea to visit Veliky Ustyug on November 18th and wish Ded Moroz many happy returns!)
ОтветитьУдалитьI’m absolutely sure Ded Moroz represents magical spirit of New Year for all children in Russia. Children love Ded Moroz because he always keeps promises and because each child receives a gift. One day I’ll certainly visit Veliky Ustyug, take a picture with Ded Moroz and ride in a troika. I think it will be great fun!)
ОтветитьУдалитьDed Moroz is really a traditional Russian character who brings presents for children on the New Year’s Eve. In my opinion he gives children gladness and miracles. Ded Moroz makes this holiday actually magical!
ОтветитьУдалитьI have never heard about Father Frost’s Birthday before! Unfortunately this day isn’t as famous as New Year or Christmas and consequently there are not many people who celebrate this date in Russia. Nevertheless, I’d like to attend this event one day. When I was a child, I wrote letters to Father Frost every year, so it will be nice to meet and thank him for every present I have ever had in New Year. I am convinced that every adult wants to become a child who believes in a wonder, for this reason I hope the Birthday of Ded Moroz will become a national holiday in Russia, well-known in the whole world!
ОтветитьУдалитьMany Russian children love Ded Moroz and send letters to him. They think he's very kind and generous. Children believe they can get presents from nice Ded Moroz and his young and beautiful granddaughter whose name is Snegurochka.
