Хэллоуин

Halloween (or Hallowe'en) is an annual holiday observed on October 31, primarily in the United States, Canada, Ireland, and the United Kingdom. It has roots in the Celtic festival of Samhain and the Christian holiday All Saints' Day, but is today largely a secular celebration. Common Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, wearing costumes and attending costume parties, carving jack-o'-lanterns, ghost tours, bonfires, apple bobbing, visiting haunted attractions, committing pranks, telling ghost stories or other frightening tales, and watching horror films. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halloween

Конкурсы, олимпиады

On the 26th of October my pupils Fliychuk Victor, Koroleva Nastya, Tokareva Masha, Skrylev Misha, Orlova Anya, Samolovova Veronika took part in the Olympiad of the centre Eidos. They wrote essays on very unusual topics. We are waiting for the results.
I want to congratulate Tokareva Masha and Orlova Anya to their success in the contest of Summer Reading reports! The girls won the second prize! I hope the contest helps the pupils to develop reading skills, enrich the vocabulary and get acquainted with English and American literature.

Полеты на воздушном шаре

The manned balloon flight
The first tethered balloon flight with humans on board took place 15 October 1783. Jean Francois Pilatre de Rozier and Francois Laurent, Marquis d'Arlandes, were the first people to fly when they ascended in a Montgolfier hot-air balloon in Paris, France. The first free flight with human passengers took place on November 21, 1783. Hot air balloon festivals are held annually in many places throughout the year, allowing hot air balloons to gather and participate in various activities. They can include races; evening "night glows", in which balloons are fired while remaining tetheted to the ground; and rides. from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Публичное выступление

How to speak effectively in public
1. We should look our best.
Although people aren’t supposed to ‘judge the book by its cover’, some people unconsciously tend to do that. If we don’t look credible enough, they may not even start listening to what we have to say. I’m not saying we ought to wear gowns or tuxedos, but simply wear clothes fit for the occasion. Our clothes should be neat and free of wrinkles (unless it’s the clothes’ style), not too loud that people would rather stare at it than us. We should be pleasant-looking, and I’m not only referring to our clothes but our faces and gestures as well.
2. We should know how to stress our point.
A speech, like a song has a variety of notes, tempo and loudness. A singer who just screeches all the way from the beginning to the end will not be listened to, no matter how talentedly-highpitched she is. Same with delivering a speech. We ought to know when to stay silent, when to pause, when to speak loudly, when to whisper, when to speak fast, when to slow down, etc. or else we would sound monotonous and the main points of our speech would not be understood or remembered well.
3. We should be humble.
We should admit it when we make mistakes during our speech and to apologize for that mistake. There are times we may forget a certain term. Instead of pausing for a long time or using a word we’re not sure of, it’s better to ask our listeners. Do not be ashamed to do this. Listeners would appreciate your humility and even relate to you more because they know you are just like them, a human capable of making mistakes and forgetting things, a great or famous person, yet, still human, like them, and this makes the listeners love you more.

This holiday I celebrated in the capital of our republic, the city of Yakutsk. I was a delegate of the XII congress of the teachers of Yakutia. The programme of the event was rich in meetings, discussions, conserts, lessons. I was very glad to get acquainted with my colleaques and share their skills in teaching. One day of the congress was dedicated to teachers' lessons. There were 26 of them who had a chance to show their methods of teaching. It was interesting and useful to attend the lessons of real masters. And, also, a great happiness for me was to know that my work had been appreciated and I was chosen to be one of the best teachers of Russia. Thanks a lot to everybody who helped me in my progress.
