Queen Elizabeth II celebrates her 85th birthday but she’s the one handing out gifts. Queen’s birthday coincides with Maundy Thursday, or Holy Thursday in 2011. On that day she traditionally gave coins, but special ones, to as many men and as many women as her years. Without any doubt HRH Queen Elizabeth II is one of the most popular British monarchs and now is the oldest monarch ever to rule, having served as a queen for 59 years from June 1953. The public adore her. The Queen plays an important role as the head of state and as an ambassador for the United Kingdom and colonies. But the Queen is ore than that, she is the genuine article. A good wife, mother and a stupendous grandmother to boot.
