Safer Internet Day (SID) is organised in February of each year to promote safer and more responsible use of online technology and mobile phones, especially amongst children and young people across the world. SID is supported by countries throughout Europe and during the week, a range of activities will be taking place across the continent to help protect young people online. In 1999, the European Commission (EC) created the Safer Internet Programme, with the aim of promoting safe, responsible use of the internet by children and young people, and protecting them from illegal and harmful content and conduct online. In 2004, the Insafe network was set up to spearhead awareness activities within the Safer Internet Programme.

Birthday of Ded Moroz

November 18th is the birthday of Ded Moroz, a traditional Slavic character similar to Santa Claus. On this special day, Russian children send congratulations to a special post office built for the occasion or travel to Veliky Ustyug to attend celebrations thrown in Ded Moroz’s honor. The beloved Ded Moroz, known in English as Grandfather Frost or Father Frost, traditionally celebrates his birthday in Veliky Ustyug. The town in northern Russia has been Ded Moroz’s home since 1998 and numerous relatives come to congratulate the beloved man on his special day. Santa Claus from Finland, Chiskhan from Yakutia, Pakkayne from Karelia, and Snegurochka from Kostroma all pay a visit on November 18th. Ded Moroz delivers presents in person and children may visit him all year long He also goes on tour and visit not only towns and cities of Russia. After his birthday celebrations this year, Father Frost will also visit Germany, France, and several countries in the Former Soviet Union.

Международный День Танца

International Dance Day was introduced in 1982 by the International Dance Committee of the International Theatre Institute, a UNESCO partner NGO, and is celebrated on April 29 every year. The day was suggested by the International Dance Committee to commemorate the birthday of Jean –George Noverre (1727-1810), the creator of modern ballet. Every year, an outstanding choreographer or dance is invited to deliver a message which is circulated throughout the world. The personality is selected by the founding entity of the International Dance Day – the International Dance Committee of ITI, which collaborates with World Dance Alliance, a Cooperating Member of ITI. The goal is to celebrate Dance, to revel in the universality of this art form, to cross all political, cultural and ethnic barriers and bring people together through the common language of Dance.

День Детства

The Day of Childhood is traditionally celebrated before the holiday of "The Last Bell" at our school. The pupils of the 11th forms put on clothes little children usually wear, bring toys to school, play funny games and take pictures during the breaks. They look touching. Everybody understands that they are not children any more. It's, may be, the last chance for them to behave so childish!

Конкурс для девушек

The first day of spring our school celebrated with the competition among the girls of the 9-10 forms «Business Lady».  The participants of this event told in English about themselves showing presentations, treated the members of the jury to tasty dishes cooked with their hands. The most difficult task for the girls were to find the solutions in different situations. Conversational skills, tact and friendly manners helped most of them.  The last task was to tell the audience about their thoughts about business lady of the present. The ideas were reasonable, mature and interesting. The competition was prepared by the students of English department (East-Siberian University) who had a practice at our school. We also had an opportunity to listen to wonderful music played by the guest musician and to the song sung by my pupil Mariya Tokareva. It was a really exciting event. All the girls got presents and diplomas of Miss English, Miss Audience's Sweetheart, Miss Charm, Miss Thrift, Miss Elegance. Okoyemova Diana and Alekseeva Valeria became the winners and got the title of Business Ladies.

Международная олимпиада

In December my pupils Elena Popova (5 B form) , Mariya Tokareva and Mikhail Skrylev (7B form) took part in VII International contest of basic sciences , got certificates and were invited in the prime league.

In school Olympiad among the pupils of the 7 form my pupils Anna Orlova was the first, Mariya Tokareva got the second prize and Anastasiya Koroleva – the third one.

In December my pupils of the 11 form took part in a regional olympiad and had excellent results:

Churkina Alyona won the first prize, Vasilenko Dmitry was the second and Kolodeznikova Elena became the third. Alyona and Dmitry are in Yakutsk now. On Monday they'll participate in a republican olympiad. I wish them success and good luck!

On Monday there was a performance in our school. The pupils from 4-6 forms took part in it with poems and plays in English . Some of them were really interesting to watch! My pupils showed two plays: Chicken Little and The House in the Wood.

День рождения школы

Yesterday my school celebrated its 40 anniversary. It was decorated with coloured balloons, flowers and photos of former pupils, teachers. We  invited a lot of quests. They came with presents. The most wonderful one, in my opinion, was the picture of a birch in a winter forest made of a horse hair. We heard so many kind words and felt proud of our school.  There was a concert full of songs, dances and video congratulations from the graduators who now live in Germany, the USA, Moscow and St. Petersburg. We were glad to listen to and see the familiar faces of former headmaster and a chief teacher of English who left our town. We saw a film about the first years of the school, remembered people who had worked here. It’s interesting to note that six of our teachers are former pupils. I am among them. After the concert there was a party. We treated the quests with champagne, danced a lot. 40 years are not many, but not few. Our school has its history, traditions and a lot of successful, clever and  good people will remember it as their childhood, their fist friends, love.



Всероссийская эвристическая олимпиада "Эйдос"

I want to congratulate my pupil of the 7B form Masha Tokareva to her good result on the olympiad "Eidos". Masha has become a laureate of it. She is the fifth in Russia with her essays in the age group of 6-8 forms. I am very glad!

Конкурсы, олимпиады

On the 26th of October my pupils Fliychuk Victor, Koroleva Nastya, Tokareva Masha, Skrylev Misha, Orlova Anya, Samolovova Veronika took part in the Olympiad of the centre Eidos. They wrote essays on very unusual topics. We are waiting for the results.

I want to congratulate Tokareva Masha and Orlova Anya to their success in the contest of Summer Reading reports! The girls won the second prize! I hope the contest helps the pupils to develop reading skills, enrich the vocabulary and get acquainted with English and American literature.

Последний звонок

The 25th of May is a sad and happy holiday in our school. We have parted with our pupils of the 11 forms. They are not pupils now, they are schoolleavers. They are glad to start a new period in their lives. Childhood has been over! And I am very proud of you, my beloved pupils of the group from 11A. I remember our lessons, our parties, our talks. 

And now you are so adult and clever. I'll miss you. I wish you good luck and success in future.

On 19 March Yakut State University held a regional olympiad among schoolchildren in Mirny. The competition was in knowledge of English language. My pupil of the 10 form Elena Kolodeznikova won the third prize. I congratulate Lena on this good result and wish her to go on studying English and make her teacher glad.

Party

Yesterday we had a very exciting party at our school. Pupils of the second form showed everybody their knowledge of English! They recited poems, dialogues and sang songs in English language. At the beginning of the party they told about all the letters of the ABC or English alphabet. The leading characters of the event were Eugene Kostyushkin (11A), who performed the Russian alphabet and Mark Elenkin, (11A) "his brother English one". All the party we were impressed by the talent of Ksenya Tsagelnik (11A), who starred as a witch. She was not sure in the success of the pupils in studying English and they managed to persuade her in it. The pupils of the 8 form, the members of the puppet theatre group, showed three Russian tales. The pupils of the 4 form sang very funny songs and all the children danced with them. The party was really amazing! I'd like to thank the participants for their work and diligence.
